Product History
Coated in a Vintage Kimono fabric, glass fibre body, and wooden handle, the vibrant blue sky mixes equally with the pink and white fleecy clouds, therefore, adding a far eastern mystique to the brolly. This colour invokes both, the brightness of the sky, and the fluffy clouds of a summer day. In Japanese culture, the clouds(Kumo) represent an admiration for nature. It’s a purely decorative pattern thus used as a signature or crest by Japanese carpenters. This fabric is made from JUBAN (inner of kimono). JUBAN does not usually appear but sophisticated people like to wear this kind of design. Japanese Kimono culture embodies this kind of playful spirit.
Canopy made from 100% silk of a Kimono, meaning it’s not suitable for rain as it would damage the silk. Consequently. the theme of this umbrella means it’s perfect for the sun, weighing approximately 310 grams. You may imagine a “Fluffy cloud in the early summer sky” by this design. The origin of the Kimono can be traced as far back as the Heian Period over 1200 years ago. Straight cuts of fabric were sewn together, subsequently helping to create a garment that fit every body shape.
Enjoy the radiance and vibrancy of this wonderful 綿雲Watagumo Kimono Umbrella on a hot summer day.
